MT companies in India
Medical transcription first started in India somewhere in 1997 and 1998 as some bigger Us companies like Healthscribe (now Spheris) starting their business in Bangalore and Heartland in Delhi. Since then, MT industry has spread into all the major cities in India in slightly organized and mostly unorganized way.
MT industry started in India on a fairly high and optimistic note, but somewhere in 2004-2005, the industry started showing signs of decline, but in the last two to three years the industry is getting resurgent again with major players changing their leadership and strategies and getting more professional in their approach.
The following MT companies have stood on their own in testing times and have still been going strong and moving forward in the right direction:

Of late, Internet has been flooded with offers of making you millionaire in months, but are they real. I have been researching with all the websites claiming to make $$$ in days or weeks and found most of them to be nothing but asking you to pay them $50 to $100 and then you never know when will you get rich. There are a lot of sites offering pay per click. I myself tried my luck with all the pay per click sites but ended up gaining nothing but lose time. Then I found the idea of Adsense and it took me really days to understand the working of Adsense. Click Here! Being a novice to HTML codes, it took me week to just to figure out how to put your Adsense codes into your website. After giving this weeks, I have now learnt that working with Adsense is one of the better way to earn online, though one has to wait, because bringing traffic to your site is a difficult process and so one has to be patient. Medical transcription is a relatively new industry in India which has peaked in the last five years. The industry is now attracting a lot of young enthusiast to pursue the industry as a full-fledged career.
One new technological advancement in this field is the preference for use of voice recognition engines (VRE) over the conventional use (MTs transcribing reports). A lot of discussion has been going on this subject that whether this will subject the MTs to face competition with the machine. The answer is still debatable and will remain debatable for years to come. In my perception, the VRE can never compete with a good MT because the best of VREs cannot create a report that is more than 80% accurate. So, after the report being transcribed by the VRE, it still has to be checked by an MT to make it deliverable.

is booming in India. Based on a study by NASSCOM, the employment generated by Medical transcription in the years 1997/98 was around 2,500. The revenue generated by medical transcription was Rs. 75 crores. According to the prediction of the National Association of Software and Service Companies (NASSCOM), the industry's turnover is likely to touch Rs. 10,000 crores by 2008, providing employment to 1.60 lakh people.

should have a good knowledge of medical terms, pharmacology, anatomy, laboratory medicine, disease processes, and much more. He should to be able to transcribe a report and know enough about what is being dictated to be able to recognize strange, obscure medical terms, (or, more likely, to know which reference book to look through to find out how the obscure medical term is spelled). There are a lot of things that a medical transcriptionist should know in order to be good at their job. It simply isn't enough to memorize some medical terms and be a fast typist. The most important quality that an efficient medical transciptionist should have is that he should know how he should manage time. Typically in an eight-hour shift, an efficient MT should be able to transcribe 1000 lines with a minimum of 95% accuracy. This sounds a bit difficult, but is achievable and is being achieved by a lot of MTs across India. In fact, the first Rs. 20,000 per month barrier breaks once a MT is able to achieve this target.

Trip to Mahabalipuram
It was only at the last hours of the 30th of December we decided that this year we will celebrate the New Year's eve on the pristine beach of Mammalapuram with the entire family together but for Bhaiya. With everything given due concerns for, viz., the route, the cars, the sitting arrangements, the breakfast and lunch option, and the last but not the least, that we have to reach Bangalore the same night before the Dawn of New Year. The morning stated brightly with the two cars, my beloved Maruti 800 and Gautam's Alto, hitting top gear on Hosur Road at 6 a.m. on the 31st December. With Sun still not out of its closet and the proposed six-lane work going on Hosur Road still we reached Hosur in 10 minutes and then set on the motorists' dream Bangalore-Chennai Highway (a part of Golden Quadtrangle). Since Gautam had once been before on this highway, his Alto was taking the guide route and we were moving smoothly on the highway when I missed an arrow and landed on the road leading to Salem with Gautam's car taking the Chennai road. Fortunately, I was back to my senses within a minute and put the car in reverse gear and was as on the Chennai road within minutes. It was at 10 in the morning, going nonstop since 6 a.m., I suddenly found that everyone in the car are having mice jumping in the belly and we found a roadside dhaba just opened on the right side of the road. After stuffing us with puri and sabji, we went ahead nonstop until the Kanchipuram T-point came where we had to leave the smooth national highway and come on the narrow state highway to reach Mammalapuram. It took us more than one hour just to clear the heavy traffic of Kanchipuram City to be back on the highway leading to Mammalapuram. After not much untoward happenings and after paying almost 200 bucks at five toll gates, we finally were able to reach the beach just around 2 in the afternoon, much to everyone's chagrin that why we opted for such a long journey. Once on the beach, good times were back again with everyone jumping and shouting in the high waves. Papa still opted not to enter water and to look after our belongings! With time running out I was pleading with Ashi to come out of the sea as we have to hit the road once again to go back to Bangalore and hit the National Highway before the dark sets in. But, as it never happens with us, we were able to reach Kanchipuram only in the 8 in the night and back on the National Highway only around 9 p.m. Once again, we hit the top gear and went nonstop when only after driving for three hours nonstop, I noticed that I was hardly able to keep open my eyes and drive on. In fact, I had my eyes closed for a couple of seconds in the middle of the Highway, when the good senses prevailed and I parked the car on the side of the road to regain my senses back and be on the road back again. We had our dinner at around 12 in the midnight at a good Punjabi Dhaba (no pun intended..) in Tamilnadu was back in Ittina Neela at 2 a.m. of the New Year.
